Les Grandes Serres ‘Les Portes du Castelas’
Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2008 +103697 $13.95
Rated

“The Rhône whites of this producer always have a touch of Grenache Blanc, in this case blended with Viognier, Marsanne, Roussane and Clairette. It’s a brilliant pale gold and partially barrel aged providing a smooth texture. Floral, ripe tree fruit and citrus aromas tantalize. The flavours of ripe stone fruit marry well with citrusy acidity and mineral notes. It’s medium bodied with a pleasant mid-length finish. Enjoy with seafood or lemon-herbed roast chicken.” (Susan Desjardins)

2007 Celler Pinol N. Sra. Del Portal Roble +146183 $19.95
Rated 90
“The 2007 Portal Red is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Merlot, Tempranillo, and Syrah aged for six months in French, American, and Hungarian oak. Dark ruby-colored, the nose exhibits earth notes, cedar, tobacco, cassis, cherry, and blackberry. Ripe and sweet on the palate, licorice, dried herbs and mineral notes make an appearance leading to a lengthy, pure, fruit-filled finish. Drink this tasty effort over the next four years.”

2008 Megalomaniac The Pink Slip Rosé +85126 $14.95
Rated

“Floral and spice on the nose, the flavour profile includes freshly sliced strawberry and plum compote. It’s light to medium bodied, nicely textured delivering a lip-smacking hit of sour cherry on the lingering finish. This pairs well with a plate of deli meats and assorted condiments.” (Vic Harradine)
