The Good Juice – On Vintages - March 18, 2017

Four Wines to Look For at the LCBO This Weekend! - COMING TO VINTAGES!

We have four new wines releasing at the LCBO this weekend:

Bodegas Altanza Lealtanza Reserva 2011 has a complex and well-balanced bouquet: red fruits (raspberry, cherry), liquorice blend seamlessly with the smoky, balsamic, spicy notes coming from the oak. It is supple and rich on the palate, with a meaty texture and lively fruit that make this an easy reserva to drink, and very food-friendly too.

New to Vintages, the Cordero di Montezemolo Piedmont Wine Project Asinel Bianco 2013 has a bright straw yellow colour with light greenish reflections. Intense aromas of peach, apricot, orange blossoms, chamomile and sage. Delicate taste, slightly sweet with a good fresh acidity.

Coriole Estate Shiraz 2014 has fruity aromas of plum, mocha and spice. The palate is rich and complex with juicy red and black fruits, spice and integrated oak. An elegant full bodied style with depth and balance, typical of the ‘Estate Grown’ range.

J. Lohr Tower Road Petite Sirah 2013 has inviting aromas of black plum and a bouquet of hazelnut that are followed by flavours of ollalieberry and a French oak signature on the palate. This 2013 Tower Road Petite Sirah expresses this early ripening vintage with dark fruit and restrained tannins.

Tasting Notes
VINTAGES panel, May 2016

In the dialect of Piedmont, asinel means both “grape” and “donkey,” which is why you’ll find a donkey on this label. This wine is built around the Cortese grape of Gavi fame and offers pretty floral and honey notes as well as ripe pear, apple and grapefruit. Lightly chill and sip, or pair with seafood pasta or salads.
Coriole Estate Shiraz 2014 +931600 $28.95

Rated 93 & 3 Stars
Jeremy Oliver, March 6, 2017

“Pristine, peppery and elegant, with juicy small black and red berries, chocolate oak.”
J. Lohr Tower Road Petite Sirah 2013 +480210 $38.95

Rated 92 & Cellar Selection
Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast, May 1, 2016

“The power of smoky oak shows strongly on this wine. Black-cherry fruit aromas are woven in with caramel, fudge, vanilla and cappuccino scents. A strong tannic structure frames the palate, with juicy black-cherry and blueberry flavors enhanced with milk chocolate and more caramel. Drink 2017–2033.”
