Five Incredible Wines to Look For at the LCBO This Weekend! - COMING TO VINTAGES!

We have five new wines releasing at the LCBO this weekend:

Trenel Fils Beaujolais Villages 2015 has a deep and brilliant ruby colour with dark purple notes. The nose is dominated by red fruits, such as strawberry and red currant, mingled with floral notes of rose and peony. It’s finely structured in the mouth, with smooth tannins. It’s a bright wine with long-lasting aromas.

Vesevo Beneventano Falanghina IGT 2015 has a bright straw yellow colour. Intense aromas, quite persistent and fruity. Medium-bodied, well balanced, quite intense and persistent.

Vigneti del Vulture Pipoli Rosato Basilicata 2016 has a bright raspberry pink colour. Aromas of cherry, sour black cherry and pansy. An elegant wine, with a persistent floral finish.

Wakefield Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 has an aroma of rich blackcurrant, subtle spice, tomato leaf and a touch of eucalypt. French oak maturation is also evident with subtle aromas of cedar and dark chocolate. This is a wine of great intensity. It has distinctive blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours. Subtle oak characters of cedar cigar box and spice are also evident.

Wakefield Wines Estate Chardonnay 2016 has delightful aromas of white peach, nectarines and subtle floral notes. Fresh flavours of stone fruit combine with cashews and an underlying toastiness from the barrel fermentation to deliver a mouth-filling and enjoyable wine. The wine has a clean, elegant palate, a zesty acid backbone and long, persistent finish.

Trenel Fils Beaujolais Villages 2015 +487140 $16.95

Tasting Notes
(VINTAGES panel, September 2016)

Thirty-eight villages are permitted to use the Beaujolais Villages designation, which was established in 1950. It was created to recognize wines that demonstrated more intense colours, flavours, tannin and structure than generic Beaujolais wines, but were not of the quality of the 10 Beaujolais Crus. This example from 2015 is zesty and smooth with plum, raspberry, cherry, blackberry, chocolate, smoke and light spice tones.

Vesevo Beneventano Falanghina IGT 2015 +289538 $16.95

Rated 4.5 Stars & Value
Vic Harradine,, May 22, 2017

“Falanghina is a white grape variety native to Italy, most notably grown north of Naples on the coast of Campania. Floral and citrus aromas make way for a medium-weight, nicely textured wash of ripe apple and white peach adorned and infused with racy, lemony tang and saline minerality. It’s crisp, clean and refreshing throughout. Pour with grilled or pan-seared salmon under a squeeze of fresh lemon.”
Vigneti del Vulture Pipoli Rosato Basilicata 2016 +450718 $15.95

Tasting Notes
VINTAGES panel, May 27, 2017

Vulture is part of a large area that extends to the north of the Basilicata region and is dominated by the profile of Monte Vulture, an inactive volcano. This easygoing pink wine is made from Aglianico and promises tangy berry fruit and subtle mineral tones.
Wakefield Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 +744235 $19.95

Rated 92 & Gold, September 21, 2016

“Violet color. Savory aromas and flavors of olives, huckleberry jam on buttered toast, eucalyptus, and chocolate mint with a silky, tangy, fruity medium-to-full body and a tingling, interesting, medium-long spiced blueberries, toffee, and sandalwood finish with crunchy, fine tannins and light oak. A bright, refreshing red wine that will be a Swiss Army knife at the table.”
Wakefield Wines Estate Chardonnay 2016 +711556 $15.95

Rated 90
Natalie MacLean, May 27, 2017

“This Chardonnay over-delivers on the price-quality ratio. Full-bodied with green apple and toasty oak aromas. Perfect for roast chicken. Lovely melon and pear notes on the finish of this Australian Chardonnay.”
