The Good Juice – On Vintages - March 17, 2018

Wine to Look for at the LCBO This Weekend! - COMING TO VINTAGES!

We have eight new wines releasing at the LCBO this weekend:

At release, the 2015 Wakefield St. Andrews Chardonnay is a youthful pale straw colour with vibrant green hue to the edges. The wine has ripe stone fruit aromas along with hints of tropical fruit and subtle citrus zest. Enticing sweet spice and savoury cashew nut from the French oak add complexity to the bouquet. This is a medium-bodied yet sumptuous wine with an enjoyable creaminess to the mid-palate. Flavours of juicy white fleshed stone fruit are evident along with cleansing citrus at the finish which has wonderful persistence and length from the use of quality French oak.

Coriole Vineyards Sangiovese Shiraz 2016 shows red plum and cherry with smoked meats and bay leaf. The palate is rich and succulent, showing more red fruit with some lovely savoury spice, clove and cinnamon. The wine is persistent and concentrated and the flavours linger long after the closing chorus.

Morambro Creek Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz 2016 has lifted spice and ripe mulberry/blackberry aromas that are complimented with chocolate, cedar and cinnamon on the nose. Well-integrated oak tannin provides flavours of clove and supple texture, which supports the rich plum, blackberry and mocha. The overall structure is supple and generous with fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish.

J. Bouchon Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Especial Block Series 2015 is an intense bright ruby red color with aromas of black fruits and notes of jam and coffee. It presents good structure with soft tannins showcasing notes of black fruits of cherry and currant, along with vanilla and coffee.

Golden yellow in color, the 2016 Domaine de Rotisson Les Cheres AOC Bourgogne shows a fresh, buttery nose with sweet almond, hazelnut and lime. The wine is fluid and mineral, balanced and powerful, with a final touch of vivacity.

Grevepesa Clemente VII Chianti Classico 2014 is an intense ruby red colored wine with a strong flavor of wild berries, that is well integrated with a hint of spices and toasted vanilla. The taste profile is a perfect harmony with sweet tannins that make it velvety and well balanced.

Wither Hills Pinot Noir 2014 showcases rich brooding aromatics full of dark wild berry fruits, alluring toasty spice and subtle earthy undertones that blend together in a concentrated hedonistic bouquet. Layers of sumptuous fruit and spice continue onto the palate with a core of juicy fruit bundled together with bright acidity and fine ripe fruit tannins, delivering the hallmark Wither Hills Pinot Noir style which, if patient, will reward cellaring for up to 12 years.

Vinos Sierra Norte Temperamento de Bobal 2014 has an intense nose with aromas of red fruits (red currants, cherries and strawberries) together with fine notes of rose flowers. In the palate it is very well balanced and rich with a fresh acidity that makes the wine very vibrant. In the mouth it is again very tasty, with a long aftertaste which enhances the aromas of this variety.
