Mazzei Ser Lapo Chianti Classico Riserva 2014 +288530 $23.95
Wine of the Month

With this outstanding Chianti Classico Riserva, the Marquis Mazzei celebrate their notable ancestor Ser Lapo, author of the first official document mentioning “Chianti wine”. Fresh, with aromas of berries. Strong structure and intense taste.

91 Pts – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2018

“The 2014 Chianti Classico Riserva Ser Lapo is a very good wine, especially within the context of the vintage. Not surprisingly, the 2014 is a bit youthfully austere today, but it makes up for that with fine persistence. Expressive floral and savory overtones add perfume to the dark red stone fruit flavors. Give the 2014 another 6-12 months in bottle to allow the tannins to soften further”

Chateau Vincens Prestige Cahors 2015+272427 $19.95

Dark red colour. The wine has juicy mulberry, dark plum and ripe cherry flavour and notes of vanilla and spices. It is a medium to full bodied wine, soft on the palate with silky tannins. Hint of smoke with a long and intense finish.

90 Pts + Silver – Decanter World Wine Awards 2017

“Plummy and vanilla oak nose; ripe dense liquorice black fruit, spicy, lush and medium-bodied palate. Fruity finish, pproachable and young.”
Castelli del Grevepesa Castelgreve Chianti Classico 2016+573485 $17.00 Food & Drink Discovery

Very intense ruby red colour. The bouquet is elegant, with nuances of violets and a flavour of ripe fruit. A tasty, well balanced wine with soft and velvety tannins; good persistence.

90 Pts – James Suckling, October 20, 2017

“Lots of red cherries, herbs, orange rind and cedar on the nose of this pretty Chianti Classico. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Drink now.”

Bodegas Altanza Lealtanza Reserva 2012 +208223 $22.95 Front Cover

Complex and well-balanced bouquet; this wine has a well-layered nose of red raspberry and liquorice accompanied by smoky and spicy notes coming from the oak. It is supple and rich on the palate, with a meaty texture and lively fruit. A medium-bodied red wine with soft drying tannins and just enough acidity to make this wine very food friendly. Its ripeness and long finish will please many wine-lovers. It will gain complexity in the cellar.

90 Pts – Andreas Larsson,

“Fine and developed ruby red with medium intensity. Complex nose with dried fruit, red berries, dry spices and tobacco with fine oak in the background. The palate has good grip and weight, nicely polished and layered with spicy notes of aniseed and liquorice, elegant fruit and finely spicy and long finish. Elegant and enjoyable today.”
