Dandelion – Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz 2017 375ml +358127 $12.95

Lifted blue fruits, blood plum, ripe blackberries and Christmas pudding-like spice flow out of the glass with spicy pepper, and hints of bramble and dark chocolate. Generous mouth filling sweet blackberry, raspberry and plums cover the palate with lashings of sweet spice. Firm but fine tannins and dark chocolaty nuances continue throughout the lengthy palate with youthful finish.

“Hand-picked, crushed to open fermenters, 8 days on skins, matured for 18 months in mainly used French oak. High quality Barossa fruit, part grown by famous vignerons, floods the mouth, and the cool vintage has preserved the elegance and juicy highlights of the fruit. Oak has made a perfunctory contribution to a lovely wine.”

Montes – Alpha Special Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 +649160 $24.95

Deep ruby red in colour with violet tones. The nose is elegant, intense, and complex, with a wide range of ripe red and black fruit aromas. A touch of crème de cassis and tobacco leave clear evidence of the unmistakable character of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Colchagua Valley. Fragrances of spices such as nutmeg, red pepper, and anise intermingle with pastry notes. The palate is potent, voluminous, and well structured. Aging in French oak barrels lends greater complexity and encourages perfectly rounded tannins that contribute a very pleasing sense of sweetness on the mid-palate, and light dairy notes appear on the long and elegant finish.

At release, the wine is a vibrant, youthful red with intense red/purple hue. It displays lifted aromas if raspberry, cherry and violets with enticing vanilla bean, spice and cinnamon from quality oak maturation. The wine showcases layers of ripe, dark fruit alongside rich fruit cake characters. The texture is exactly as you would expect with a velvety softness. Oak maturation has delivered flavours of vanilla, mocha and subtle spice and the finish has a pleasing degree of elegance.

Deep and intense ruby-red colour. Powerful nose, black berries, classic of the Tannat grape. Supple in the mouth, soft, with full and well rounded tannins. Taste of cherry with bright freshness on the finish. To conclude, great fineness and full maturity.
