This winery was founded in 1979 by Giovanni Cantele and his two sons Augusto and Domenico and is the result of ten years experience in the wine business in the Salentino area. Cantele's latest investments have seen them increase their presence in the DOC zone of Salice Salentino in the commune of Guagnano, where they grow the local Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera and Primitivo varieties.

The vineyards are located about 100 meters above see level on limestone, clay and siliceous soil. The influence of the north winds combine with the proximity of the Mediterranean to create a favorable thermal range and overall a much cooler microclimate than is usually associated with these latitudes. The classic alberello training system is used in the vineyards, which are characterized by high density of planting. Average production is about 70 quintals per hectare. The total annual production is approximately 70,000 cases.
