In 1987, Ray and Nancy Coursen started this Napa Valley based winery with 286 cases of Zinfandel from the Morisoli Vineyard, which is still one of their primary fruit sources.

For a decade they were buying grapes and crushing at various custom crush facilities, and then in 1997, bought a small winery on Hoffman Lane. Working with an amazing group of growers they started out making Zinfandel, and then expanded into Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.
