Vina Santa Laura

The Bisquertt family, with an agricultural tradition stretching back more than 150 years, bought land in the Santa Cruz area in the beginning of this century.

Mr. Hartwig and his wife planted the first vineyards in 1979 as initial step of an ambitious long term project to produce fine wines. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were the first planted, since the results of the wines were well known in the area. After living in Canada for ten years, Mr. Hartwig had realized there was a growing demand abroad for other varieties like Chardonnay and Merlot, so these were also carefully selected and planted, giving way to one of the few vineyards in Chile with a pure selection of these varieties.
