CASTELLI DEL GREVEPESA
TUSCANY, ITALY

Castelli del Grevepesa

Castelli del Grevepesa, the biggest Wine Cooperative of Chianti Classico or, as we prefer to say, the biggest Family of Chianti Classico, was established in 1965 by a small group of eighteen winegrowers in Tuscany on the initiative of Mr. Gualtiero Armando Nunzi. Their main intention was to bring together a group of people from different areas of the Chianti Classico region whose common purpose was to preserve the centuries old traditions of the Tuscan viticulture.

Castelli del Grevepesa has been also crucial to save the Chianti landscape and its wine-making traditions, after the end of “sharecropping” in the 60’s.

Today, Castelli del Grevepesa has approximately 120 members, coming from all the Chianti Classico production Area, but also from other areas of Tuscany. Most of the Associated Vintners have their estates close to the villages of Greve in Chianti; Mercatale Val di Pesa; San Casciano Val di Pesa; Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and Barberino Val d’Elsa.

Our production is based on the Sangiovese grape, which is produced in 18 different areas/districts for an amount of approximately 300 hectares (about 750 acres) this unbelievable blending of different teritoires make us able to create unique wines. Only Castelli del Grevepesa and a few other wineries in Italy can “play” with such a wide range of different teritoires.

Since its foundation, one of the main target of Castelli del Grevepesa, has been to obtain amazing wines, with  reasonable prices. The wide range of different teritoires give us more alternatives, creativity and also preserves us from eventual bad vintages. While the cooperative concept of “sharing costs”, allowed us to keep prices more competitive than other producers.

Product availability is limited! Please contact us @ info@profilewinegroup.com if you are interested in securing an allocation of these wines.
